Ramesh Taurani of TIPS, the company which produced super hit RACE and is all set to bring the sequel to the action thriller on floors pretty soon, is truly annoyed. He can’t fathom the rumours making the rounds that Abbas-Mustan, the director duo of the first in the series, may not be at the helm of affairs for the sequel after all.
“Can I, for the last time, announce to the world through this forum that Abbas-Mustan are indeed directing RACE 2 as well”, says Taurani with mock request when questioned if there was any truth to the tale, “From the very inception of RACE 2, it was clear that Abbas-Mustan were on board. Still, some hyperactive minds have been imaging things differently. Sorry to disappoint them but the truth is that there is no one else but the men in white who would be calling the shots all over again.”
While this should finally put an end to the wagging tongues, what does the producer have to say about yet another speculation that RACE 2 is entirely the handwork of writer Shiraz Ahmed with Abbas-Mustan having no clue of what has been the written word so far? After all the man who has penned films Abbas-Mustan’s earlier efforts like HUMRAAZ, AITRAAZ as well as RACE is known to be in complete know-how of the business of making thrillers and hence is said to have worked on RACE 2 directly with Taurani.
“This is yet another piece of speculation and that’s about it”, says Taurani with a straight face, “Yes, Shiraz has written the sequel as well but Abbas-Mustan are totally in synch with what has come out on paper. They have been in constant touch with Shiraz and know the direction that the story has taken from the very first day.”
