Priyanka Chopra turns 28 today

Priyanka Chopra is celebrating her 28th birthday on Sunday by taking a vacation with her girlfriends. “I really need it. I haven’t vacationed in a long time,” says the actor. And perhaps birthday is a good time for anyone to forget a dismal 2009: she just has to see the day through without anyone asking her, “What’s your rashee?”

Chopra has wrapped up the shoot of Siddharth Anand’s Anjaana Anjaani and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf. And once the vacation is over, she will be heading to Brazil to shoot for Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, which will be followed by Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 and Anurag Basu’s Silence. “I am going to travel all over the world with these films. I love exploring new places,” says Chopra.

In Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf, based on Ruskin Bond’s Susanna’s Seven Husbands, Chopra plays the protagonist Susanna. “It was challenging because it is about the journey of a woman from 20 years to 65 years. I had to make sure my mannerisms and moves gelled with the age I was portraying,” says Chopra, who also used prosthetics to look old.

She confesses that she was nervous working with actors like Naseerudin Shah and Annu Kapoor. “I have known John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh forever and we are really good buddies. But it was something else working with Naseer Sir and Annu Sir. I learnt a lot from them,” she says.

But before the release of Saat Khoon Maaf in January 2011, there is the September release of Anjaana Anjaani. The rom-com, Chopra’s favourite genre, will showcase Ranbir Kapoor and Chopra as the lead pair for the first time. She is all praise for Kapoor.

“He is so much fun. He is a super guy, hugely talented and we had a great time together,” she says, adding that Basu’s next movie too will cast Kapoor opposite her.
